The Industrious Spirit Company (ISCO) launched its return of Blue Velvet Bourbon, a 100-proof spirit made from 100% blue corn. Described as a “beautiful expression of culture and place,” Blue Velvet is an intentionally “youthful yet super flavorful bourbon” made from a blend of two unique organic and landrace blue corns from the U.S. and Mexico. A Sept. 15 VIP launch party included passed hors d’oeuvres and a luxurious charcuterie and cheese board featuring local producers from Chef Emerson Bontecou of The East End, a complementary pour of Blue Velvet, access to the Blue Velvet selfie booth, samples of ISCO’s as-of-yet unreleased spirits, the first opportunity to purchase Blue Velvet Bourbon, access to sign up for tours and a raffle ticket to be entered to win a very special artist-made, one-of-a-kind Blue Velvet Bourbon bathrobe and opulent handcrafted Blue Velvet tasseled pillows. ISCO produces its sustainably sourced spirits line of vodkas, gins and bourbons at Providence’s first distillery since Prohibition. Located on the site of a former industrial mill complex just a mile from downtown Providence, the tasting room is open for visitors. The ISCO line is distributed in Rhode Island by Horizon Beverage Co.
