Virtual Negroni Week Raises Funds for Hospitality Workers

By October 28, 2020Connecticut, Rhode Island, Top News

The eighth annual Negroni Week, presented by Campari and Imbibe magazine, was celebrated virtually Sept. 14-20 with live online education sessions and Zoom happy hours capturing the original spirit of the weeklong event. The event celebrates the classic Campari Negroni cocktail while raising funds for charitable initiatives around the world. This year, due to the ongoing financial hardships in the service industry brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was celebrated completely online, with the theme “Take Your Negroni Week 2020 Celebration Home,” offering participants a safe mode to join in on the festivities, with the charitable component of the event focused solely on raising funds for the hospitality industry. Campari partnered with organizations providing assistance and support to these workers, including the United States Bartenders’ Guild National Charity Foundation, the Restaurant Workers Community Foundation and Another Round Another Rally, among others. For the first time, consumers were invited to make charitable contributions via negroniweek.com through the month of September, which were then donated to those hospitality-focused organizations. During the kickoff session, led by Anne Louis Marquis, members of the Campari America team virtually toasted the memory of pioneering bartender, writer and industry personality Gary “Gaz” Regan, who passed away in the fall of 2019. Throughout the week, virtual education sessions hosted by bartenders included The Negroni Family Tree, Mastering the Negroni and one incorporating other spirits into the classic gin-based cocktail, including tequila, whiskey, Cognac and rum.
