Hartford Flavor Company launched the newest liqueur in the Wild Moon Liqueurs product line, Smoky Chai Spice, with a celebration in its tasting room in Hartford on Oct. 3. Guests were invited to taste the liqueur and bottles of the new spirit were available for purchase. Distilled by Hartford Flavor Company owners and founders Lelaneia and Tom Dubay, Smoky Chai Spice is a limited-release liqueur that was aged in a Laphroaig scotch barrel for one year. The liqueur has scents of holiday spice with the flavors of cinnamon and spiced honey and notes of ginger and cardamom. Smoky Chai Spice is a blend of ginger, cardamom, cinnamon, coriander, clove and black pepper. “The result is a wonderful blend of the smoke and peat from the scotch and the balanced spices from the liqueur,” said Lelaneia Dubay, Co-founder of Hartford Flavor Company. “We had lots of fun aging the chai spice in the ex-scotch barrel and monitoring how the aging process matured over the year that it rested. We plan on doing more barrel-aging efforts with the liqueurs in the months and years ahead.” The Wild Moon Liqueur line is distributed across Connecticut via Brescome Barton.
