February 16, 2022: Fundraiser for RI-based Project Broken Wheel

WHAT: The inaugural Bocce for Bikes event is set to benefit Project Broken Wheel Foundation at Jerry Longo’s Meatball and Martinis. The benefit event welcomes teams of two to sign up and play against another team. All teams will receive a complimentary three-course dinner and cocktails from sponsors. Overall prizes will be awarded for the highest score, lowest score, best team outfits, best AND worst bocce throw, and overall team score. Registration is $50 per team with all funds directly going towards Project Broken Wheel Foundation.

Project Broken Wheel Foundation refurbishes bicycles from communities across Rhode Island, with volunteers doing seat replacements, tires repaired, chains fixed, reflectors placed on tires/front and back of the bike, touch up paint and some TLC to make the bikes look close to brand new. Over the course of the 11 years the program more than 1,200 bicycles have been donated to local children’s organizations (Manville Family Literacy Center, Lincoln Adopt-A-Family, Boys & Girls Club, YMCA, Institute for the Study & Practice of Non-Violence, Martin Luther King Family Center, Children & Family Services, Saint Lucy Heart, Salve Regina University Scholarship Program and local, underprivileged families in the area.
