Harry’s Wine & Liquor Market in Fairfield, which in 2021 celebrated 80 years serving the Fairfield community, presented a check to Operation Hope through its Whiskey Warriors sales fundraising project in the amount of $50,000 on Nov. 22. Harry’s Whiskey Warriors program raises charitable funds from sales of allocated rare whiskies, bringing together retailers and collectors locally. Harry’s Co-owner Patrick Monteleone said, “This year it seems that everyone stepped up to help and really raised the bar. From the guys that donated bottles out of their personal collections, to the ones who stopped by with a check who ‘just wanted to do my part,’ to the people who camped out to pay too much for a bottle to add to their bunker. We are genuinely blown away by your selfless acts of kindness. We encourage other retailers to use these very special bottles to do something positive in their own communities.” The team raised a total of $48,020, more than twice the amount of last year’s $21,485 total raised, with the Harry Pollack family, the original store owners, donating $1,980 to make it an even $50,000. Founded in 1986 and based in Fairfield, Operation Hope provides individual and family programs and services that focus on eliminating hunger and homelessness, designed to help people solve their crises and build stability.
