Hartford Flavor Company, makers of the Wild Moon Liqueurs and Wild Moon Botanics lines, began making hand sanitizer in March in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and has continued its works at the distillery filling over 40,000 bottles. The company has donated more than $50,000 of product to more than 25 hospitals across Connecticut and provided discounts to frontline health care workers, first responders, nonprofits and essential employees. Two versions of its hand sanitizer were created: one meeting CDC/FDA guidelines for general use and another meeting the World Health Organization standard for medical/surgical needs. Hartford Flavor Company Co-founder Lelaneia Dubay said, “Sales to the general public have helped fuel the donations and there has been a great outpouring of community support all the way around.” U.S. Senator Chris Murphy visited the tasting room and helped to get the word out about the sanitizer’s availability, said Dubay. “It has been great to see, and it really has been quite humbling having had so many frontline medical and essential workers come into the distillery to pick up their bottles.”
