By November 1, 2020Connecticut, Top News

New to the Connecticut market are Ironclad Small Batch Bourbon Whiskey, Ironclad Sweeter Creations Maple Syrup Cask Bourbon, Ironclad AR’s Hot Southern Honey Cask Bourbon and Ironclad Straight Bourbon Whiskey.

Newport News, Virginia-based Ironclad Distillery Co.’s bourbons are newly available in Connecticut via distributor Fine Terroir Selections. Its flagship whiskey, Ironclad Small Batch Bourbon Whiskey, is made from local Virginia corn, wheat and rye, along with malted barley, and is aged in new American oak barrels. It is characterized by the brackish air from the James River, which is balanced with the sweet caramelized oak sap from charred barrels. Each batch is double-distilled in a 500-gallon copper and stainless steel still and is generally aged over two summers. Ironclad Sweeter Creations Maple Syrup Cask Bourbon features its signature four-grain bourbon, finished for six months inside their own used barrels that previously flavored pure maple syrup from trees at Sweeter Creations Sugar House in Waddington, New York, and is available in 375 ml. Ironclad AR’s Hot Southern Honey Cask Bourbon is finished in chili-infused honey barrels from AR’s Hot Southern Honey in Richmond, Virginia. Ironclad Straight Bourbon Whiskey, available in 750 ml, is aged a minimum of two years in 30-gallon charred American oak barrels.
