New Spirits Enter Connecticut Market via Opici

Each year, Pinhook Bourbon releases a new vintage, with the expression being the best representation of its barrels at that moment and each dedicated to a promising young thoroughbred. Through a combination of careful barrel selection, blending in small batches and meticulous proofing, each Pinhook vintage has a personality as unique as the horse on the label. Its flagship is Bohemian Bourbon and Rye’d On is a new 97-proof Kentucky straight rye whiskey brimming with aromas of peach, spearmint and cinnamon leading to a palate of cherry, toffee and clove. Part of its Vertical Series 2 on 9: Tiz Rye Time, this is a second-year release out of a nine-year plan. Tiz Rye Time is dedicated to its namesake inspiration, a five-year-old thoroughbred colt. At 103 proof, its mash bill is 95% rye and 5% malted barley with aromas of butterscotch, cardamom, dates and grapefruit, leading to a rich palate of dark caramel, licorice, gingerbread and black pepper. Also from the sports-inspired field comes Cantina Especial Tequila Soda from the makers of Canteen Vodka Soda. Sponsors of the PGA tour, the team expands their reach to the agave category to ESPN viewers and beyond. In three expressions, Ranch Water is 100% agave tequila paired with flavors of freshly squeezed lime and a touch of sea salt; Grapefruit Paloma offers fresh ruby-red grapefruit balanced with 100% agave tequila’s citrus and herbal qualities; and Watermelon Margarita, a classic margarita uniquely paired with the taste of fresh watermelon and balanced using 100% agave tequila and agave nectar.
