Opici Family Distributing Adds New Charles Smith Pinot Noir

By January 1, 2021Connecticut, Top News

The newest entry from one of Washington’s most awarded winemakers Charles Smith, Golden West is a 100% Pinot Noir at 13.5% ABV showcasing a cooler, higher elevation Columbia Valley wine.

Opici Family Distributing of Connecticut welcomed Golden West Pinot Noir from award-winning winemaker Charles Smith. Noted as the first Pinot Noir from Washington State situated on the same parallel as Burgundy, the Golden West vineyard sits on the far western edge of Frenchman Hills and the soon-to-be-appointed AVA Royal Slope, located on the 47th parallel overlooking the Columbia River. At an elevation of 1,600 feet, Golden West has a temperate microclimate moderated by the Columbia River. Golden West is farmed organically and the soil composition is similar to Burgundy with ancient limestone and fossilized sea creatures mixed with sand and volcanic rock. Golden West Pinot Noir 2018 offers vintage leather, cedar, anise and wild strawberry on the nose, layered with pipe tobacco, morels and pie crust on the palate, pure and full.
