The Ocean State Job Lot Charitable Foundation, a growing, privately held discount retail chain with 140 stores, and Mill’s Tavern and Red Stripe restaurants in Providence continued to provide aid to Rhode Islanders with Meals With A Mission, a program designed to provide prepared meals to frontline workers, first responders and those in vulnerable communities during the COVID-19 pandemic. Red Stripe and Mill’s Tavern prepared 3,185 meals for 26 more donations in late May. Red Stripe delivered 150 meals to St. Martin de Porres Senior Center and 50 meals to Amos House in Providence, as well as 200 meals to the Rhode Island Hospital. Mill’s Tavern delivered 125 meals to Children’s Friend in Central Falls, 100 meals to the Emmanuel House Homeless Shelter in Providence and 100 meals to the Rhode Island Hospital. Representatives from the East Providence Primary Walk-In Health Clinic picked up 25 meals from Red Stripe too. An additional 19 donations were made May 27 through 29 via delivery and pickup. Meals With A Mission will provide thousands of additional meals to dozens of area organizations.
